Air quality in Gurugram hovers between poor and moderate category

Gururgam: Air quality levels hovered between poor and moderate category. According to CPCB on Wednesday morning the particulate matters of 2.5 microns were registered at 230 micrograms per cubic meter but later came down to moderate levels of 168 micrograms per cubic meter. It is important to note that despite a dip due to the pick up in the wind speed the particulates suspended in the air are still at unhealthy levels. According to the WHO, the safe limit of PM2.5 is 60 and PM 10 is 100.

The Deputy Commissioner Amit Khatri will now be sending a daily report on the action taken against pollution directly to the Chief Secretary Keshani Anand Arora. The senior public officials from Gurugram will also brief the Chief Secretary of the steps and fines that have also been levied on those who violate the laws and cause air pollution in the city. Based on the official report, the maximum number of violations continues to be reported in dumping the construction and demolition waste in which 145 fines have been levied till now, this is followed by illegal parking (74) burning of waste (41), garbage dumping (30 ).
