AIIMS, Safdarjung witness increase in recovery rates

New Delhi: Hospitals like All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Safdarjung have witnessed an improvement in the number of Covid positive patients, where many have been cured and discharged.

According to data obtained by the Millennium Post, the numbers of recovered patients have increased. Hospitals like AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospitals have seen a spike in recovery cases.

The number of recovered cases at AIIMS stands at 72, according to an official at the hospital, with new recoveries taking place almost everyday. The hospital is tackling a majority of COVID-19 cases.

"More cases are coming to us due to quick transmission of the virus. However, we are still expecting some improvement as we have been told that many red zone areas had no cases," said a source at the hospital.

"Now we are doing rapid testing. We have been able to considerably increase the pace of testing and we are testing more people with fewer symptoms. With this, we hope to see better days," added the official at AIIMS.

The Union Health Ministry had said that the doubling rate of positive cases is down to 6.2 days, compared to three before the lockdown.

Meanwhile, the number of recovered patients at Safdarjung stood at 50. "The number of recovered cases at Safdarjung Hospital is 50. We cannot disclose any further data because these are sensitive information and we have to gate it authorized from the departmental head before releasing it in the public domain," said an official at Safdarjung Hospital.

The number of Coronavirus cases in India reached 14,792 and the death toll increased to 488 on Saturday. According to the Health Ministry, around 2000 people have recovered from COVID-19.
