Ahead of polls, four gunrunners arrested, huge cache of arms seized
New Delhi: Ahead of polls, the Special Cell of Delhi Police busted two modules of illegal arms and ammunition suppliers operating in Western UP, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and NCR.
Deputy Commissioner of Police ( Special Cell) Pramod Kushwaha said that the first module was busted on April 29 when they arrested two inter-state illegal arms traffickers, identified as Bachchu Singh (55) and Ajay Salve (35).
They were nabbed near T-point Mathura Road/Nizamuddin railway station link road.
"A 35 semi-automatic illegal pistols of .32 bore calibre and 60 live cartridges of .32 bore calibre from their possession," said DCP ( Special Cell).
The accused Singh started procuring illegal firearms from Khargone and other places in Madhya Pradesh to supply in local areas as well as Western UP and Delhi/NCR.
DCP further said that in another operation, two arms traffickers Ranjit Singh (25) and Nakshe Lal (21) were arrested. "Ranjit was nabbed near ISBT bus stand in Sarai Kale Khan. Whereas Lal was arrested from Mainpuri," DCP further added.
The team formed under ACP (Special Cell) Attar Singh made the arrest. Singh was found involved in supplying illegal firearms for the last 5 years. He used to procure these firearms from an MP-based gunrunner of Khargone and from a gunrunner of Mainpuri (UP) district.
Accused Nakshe Lal is involved in supplying firearm camps; ammunition for last two years. He supplies pistols, rifles, ammunition to his counterparts in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and NCR.
