6-yr-old girl abducted, murdered

Ghaziabad: A 6-year-old girl, who was allegedly abducted from near her house in Loni area of Ghaziabad on Monday night, was found dead in early Tuesday morning at a plot near her house. Police officials suspected that the girl has been strangled to death.

According to police, the victim has been identified as Khwaja, daughter of Haider Ali. She was kidnapped by unidentified person, when she had gone out to play after returning from her tuition on Monday night, said police.

Police said that around 8 pm on Monday, the girl went out to play after returning from her tuitions. When she didn't return home hours after she went out, the family searched her in the area and immediately informed police.

Later at around 5 am, the girl was found dead at a vacant plot few meters away from her house. Some residents living in the vicinity spotted the girl and alerted her parents.

"Prima facie, it seems that the girl was allegedly murdered by strangulation as there are strangulation marks on her neck, however, the body has been sent for postmortem and actual reason behind the death can only be ascertained once the autopsy reports are available to us," said Arvind Kumar Maurya, Superintendent of Police (rural), Ghaziabad.
