5 persons injured in cylinder blast

New Delhi: Five persons including a 5-year-old girl were injured on Wednesday after a cylinder exploded in west Delhi's Moti Nagar area, police said.

Fire officials said they received a call about the blast around 8.20 am.

"Six fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital. Three persons have been referred to Safdarjung Hospital," an official said.

According to police, it is being suspected that the blast occurred due to gas leak.

The injured have been identified as Mohammad Chhotu, 45, Samoa Begum, 40, Mohammad Shahban, 25, Muskan, 5 are from the same family whereas the other injured was Mohammad Sadiq, 24.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Monika Bharadwaj said that FIR under appropriate sections is being registered.

Two criminals arrested

In another case, Outer Delhi Police arrested two brothers (criminals) from Mangolpuri area.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer) Seju P Kuruvilla said that both the accused persons disclosed their identity as Rahul and Vipin. Both accused persons disclosed that they have committed robberies in the area of Paschim Vihar in the month of March 2019 by chocking the neck of the victims.

They also disclosed that the recovered motorcycle was also stolen from the area of Paschim Vihar West police station.

During the interrogation, both the accused persons disclosed that they are real brothers and indulged in such criminal activities for the past 10 years.
