28-yr-old woman found dead with gunshot wound, husband held

New Delhi: A man was held by Delhi Police after his wife was found dead with a gunshot wound in Vishwas Nagar of Farsh Bazar in Shahdara district of Delhi.

After police received call that 28-year-old Shivangi has shot herself, a team of police reached the spot and the woman was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday morning.

Since, the couple was married for less than seven years soon the SDM was informed and the statement was recorded.

Later, the woman succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.

Police is investigating if she has committed suicide of has been shot at. A team of police is questioning al the family members who were present at the time of the invcident.

Shivangi Kasana was married to Prashant Kasana an year ago and recently gave birth to a girl child.

Sources said that though it was a love marriage, the family agreed to the marriage later. She was teaching in a private school and her husband had a shoe shop in the area. According to police, there was no complain in the police station by Shivangi in the past.

Though the family of Shivangi was inconsolable, they hinted that the woman was short tempered. However, they denied any ill treatment from her in-laws.

"My daughter never told about anything unfortunate. Though, she was short tempered. Recently she gave birth to a girl child and we conducted a hawan. I do not know what led to this incident," said Shivangi' mother.

"On the basis of enquiry, and inspection of site scene and MLC case under section 302 IPC and 25/27/54/59 Arms Act has been registered.

The weapon of offence has been seized and husband of deceased has been apprehended," said Amit Sharma, DCP Shahdara.
