Delhi gets Animated

Bringing the popular Japanese culture of animation to India for a third time, Anime Convention will have visual artistes, gamers, graphic novel artistes, animation film-makers and fans along with the Cosplay competition.

The Anime Convention will kick start with Makoto Shinkai’s latest movie, Children Who Chase Lost Voices From Deep Below. This year the highlight would be the presence of critically acclaimed animators like Masaru Kitao,Yoshihiro Watanabe from Madhouse and also classes on animation by Otakaru Ryo, an independent animator.

The Anime Convention is an entertainment expo focussing on the emerging industries of animation, gaming, mobile/App, VFX/SFX, toys and graphic novels.

Last year, in 2011, the festival showcased 14 anime films, 14 convention activities like workshops, master classes, contests and 10 gaming events in three days.

This year, the legendary game, Metal Gear Solid (MGS) is celebrating its 25th anniversary. There will be talks, exhibitions, contests, games and also guests from Japan’s animation and gaming industry.

There will be video game booths (open for all), comics/graphics, toys, contests and competitions like treasure hunt, cosplay, and gaming and various movies like, Tatsumi, Summer Days with Coo will be screened throughout the festival.

And food for enthusiasts, there will also be Japnese delicacies to savour and workshops on Japanese cuisines. Something out here for everyone.
