Dalit youth thrashed in UP, house set on fire

A Dalit youth was beaten up and the roof of his house set afire over Rs 250 in <g data-gr-id="11">Bamoori</g> village under Refinery police station here, police said on Thursday. The incident took place on Wednesday when one Badami demanded Rs 250 back from the accused, <g data-gr-id="12">Chandrasen</g> alias Pappu, which she had lent him, they said, adding, instead of returning the money, he insulted and threatened her, police said.

Later in the evening, the accused along with his sons, Kedar, Manvendra and Digamber, went to the farm of Gulab Singh, Badami’s son, and thrashed him, after which they dragged him to his house and set its roof afire, they said. Heavy police force has been deployed in the village to prevent any untoward situation, Deputy SP Rajesh <g data-gr-id="10">Sonkar</g> said.
