Couple in New Town found dead with several injury marks

Mystery shrouds the death of a couple whose bodies were found in their house at Jyotinagar in New Town, with several injury marks, on Monday. Police suspect that Ranglal Majumder committed suicide, after killing his wife suspecting that she had an affair with someone. The exact cause behind the incident is yet to be ascertained. An officer of the New Town police station said that local people heard the couple’s daughter crying for help on Monday morning.

Some neighbours entered the house and found the couple lying unconscious on a bed, with several injury marks on their bodies. The neighbours realised that the two were dead and informed the police.

Policemen from the New Town police station reached the spot and sent the bodies for autopsy.
On speaking to locals, the cops learnt that the couple quarrelled a lot and the man suspected his wife of having an extramarital affair.

“But we are not ruling out the possibility of their murder by someone else. The valuables inside the room were strewn on the floor. Moreover, local people, with whom the man interacted (on Sunday) night after having dinner didn’t find anything suspicious about his behaviour,” said a police officer, adding that the couple had no problem during dinner together on Sunday night and there was no problem among them then.

“We are waiting for the post mortem report, but we have started questioning some people in this connection,” the officer said. Finger print experts went to the spot and collected samples.
