Cops identify bike-borne shooters, no arrests yet

A day after the shootout at South Delhi’s Khirki Extension, Delhi Police have identified the bike-borne assailants who opened fire at a property dealer on Sunday night. A manhunt is on, a cop said.

The incident took place at around 8 pm when two persons riding on a motorcycle opened fire at Iqbal, a property dealer and a history-sheeter, who was standing at a bus stand in Khirki Extension. According to police, the incident was a revenge of an old rivalry between two gangs. The victim who succumbed to his bullet injuries also had criminal background. The prime suspects have been identified as Babli and Golu who are absconding. “A manhunt is on to nab them and raids are being conducted in various parts of Delhi and other neighbouring states,” a police official said.

According to police, this is the third killing in the ongoing gang-war between two rival gangs in the last seven months. The last shootout was reported in August from BRT corridor in GK in which one Raju Ramakant Rao was shot dead. Six armed assailants came in a Scorpio car and gunned him down and fled away. Similarly, in March the first killing took place near Qutab Minar area. The police have now roped in South Delhi’s Special Task Force to probe the matter.
