Cop critical after being hit by advocate’s car

A 32-year-old traffic constable was hit by a speeding car while he was reportedly trying to cross the BRT stretch near Siri Fort intersection on Saturday morning. The errant driver later turned out to be an advocate, said police.

The constable, identified as Narsi Meena, is posted at the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), situated near the accident spot. Around 11 am on Saturday, he was heading towards his office when the accident took place. He was about to cross the road between the former reserved bus lanes in BRT and the pavement outside the DCP (Traffic) office, when a speeding Hyundai Santro hit him. The constable fell on the car’s windshield resulting in serious head and leg injuries. He was rushed to the trauma centre of AIIMS, where he is being treated presently.
