Congress reviews Andhra crisis, petrol hike

The who's who of the Congress party gathered at the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's official residence to review the increase in petrol prices as well focus on the Andhra crisis.

Apart from the Prime Minister and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, those who attended this meet included Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Home Minister P Chidambaram, Defence Minister AK Antony and Sonia Gandhi's key aide and political secretary Ahmed Patel.

After being slammed for the price hike in petrol, by the Opposition and the allies, Gandhi convened a two-hour long meet with her key aides. She, in fact, reached Singh's residence 15 minutes before the scheduled time. There are no official reports on what took place in the meet, but reports indicate that the party would prefer some sort of revision in the increased petrol prices.

As per sources in the Congress, another main point of discussion during the meet was the Andhra Pradesh crisis involving Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy in an alleged disproportionate assets case.
