CM’s decision to give importance to Mukul is good for state: Madan

Former Transport Minister Madan Mitra on Thursday said that Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee’s decision to give importance to Mukul Roy and Shiuli Saha is good for the state.

He said while coming out of Alipore Court where he was produced on Thursday in connection with the Saradha Group scam. His judicial custody has been extended till December 31.

While entering the court room, Mitra said “do you all feel that I look like a goat?” He also wished happy and prosperous New Year to all present there.

Later when he came out from the court room after the hearing, he said that “whatever decision Mamata Banerjee takes is always correct. The decision to give importance to Mukul Roy and Shiuli Saha is good. It is good for the state.”

Replying to a question whether the Chief Minister can help the investigating officers to probe into the Saradha Group scam, he said: “How can I say this. Chief Minister can only give this answer. Moreover, everybody knows everything about the scam as so many facts were being published in newspapers.” He left the court premises in a car accompanied by the police and officers of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after saying “just continue writing about the scam in newspapers”.

Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday interrogated Sima Singh, an employee of Rose Valley group. Sima, who was known to a close person of the group’s chief Gautam Kundu, was interrogated about the multi-crore scam of Rose Valley group that had run several chit fund schemes in many states.

Sources in ED said that Sima has been questioned about the group’s daily income from different schemes and the projects for which the money was used.
