Asserting that music has no boundaries, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday offered Kolkata as a venue for a concert by Pakistani ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali whose concert in Mumbai was cancelled following threats from the Shiv Sena.
“Music has no boundaries. Music is the rhythm of the heart. Ghulam Ali Ji's concert can be held in Kolkata. We will make all arrangements,” tweeted Banerjee, also the chief of the Trinamool Congress.
The 75-year-old singer was scheduled to perform in Mumbai and Pune this week as part of the death anniversary tribute to late singer Jagjit Singh.
