CBI files chargesheet in recruitment scam

The CBI on Thursday filed a chargesheet in a Special CBI Court in Dhanbad against 13 accused in connection with the alleged fraudulent recruitment of four executive posts in Bokaro Steel Plant and Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL).

“On January 16, 2014, a case was registered against the accused persons under sections 120-B, 420, 468, 471 of IPC and Sec. 13(2), 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988, on the allegations that in conspiracy among themselves, the accused adopted biased fraudulent recruitment process, in violation to the extent procedures of SAIL and abused their respective official positions in selection of four persons,” CBI statement reads.

“The findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial,” it reads.

Meanwhile, in a separate case CBI has filed a charge-sheet against former Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax and four private persons including her husband in a bribery case of Rs. 10 lakhs (approx) in Bhopal.

On August 23, 2014, a case was registered on the basis of complaint against then Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Range-1, Bhopal on the allegation that the accused person demanded an amount of Rs. 25 lakhs through her husband from the complainant (resident of Bhopal) for settling his assessment matter. The accused was arrested while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 10 lakhs (approx).

In another case, CBI has arrested an official working in the Regional office of Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (Govt. of India), Bhopal for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 8000 from the Complainant.
