Cash, jewellery worth 12 lakh looted from bizman’s house

Cash and jewellery worth Rs 12 lakhs were looted from the house of a businessman on Wednesday night. The matter was detected on Thursday morning. The police is investing into the matter. No one has been arrested in this connection. The police said Piyush Kanti Ghosh, a contractor had gone out of his house some days ago. When he returned home on Thursday morning he found the padlock of the house broken. Entering the house he saw that the rooms had been ransacked with the almirahs broken. Cash and jewellery worth Rs 12 lakh was missing. He immediately informed the police. Senior officers with a sniffer dog went to the site and began investigation. Police also talked to the neighbours. Ghosh’s family had also gone out. Panic broke out in Subhaspalli when the news of this burglary spread. People came to his house and began to inquire. The police cordoned off the entire area. Senior officers said a manhunt was on. Local people alleged that theft and burglary in the area had gone up in the past few months. Despite complaints police had not intensified patrolling. Local people demanded a setting up of a permanent camp in the area.
