Businessman uses FB to malign wife

To tarnish the reputation of a 26-year-old interior designer, her husband allegedly created a fake Facebook account, in which he uploaded her family photographs and used vulgar languages to malign her.

The victim claims that she was being sexually harassed by her husband Sanjay Katyal, who runs a factory of automobile spare parts in Haryana. 'My in-laws used to demand dowry from me and my family soon after the marriage. They harassed me physically and mentally several times,' the victim added.

'Recently I got to know that my name and my photographs were being misused on the Internet. When I visited that fake account on Facebook, I was shocked to see the vulgar comments on my photographs. Immediately I lodged a complaint in the Punjabi Bagh police station,' she said.

A senior police official said, 'We have registered a complaint on the basis of the allegations by [the victim]. We have traced the IP address and the connection which were used to create the fake account. We found that the account was created on a BSNL account. The IP address has been registered in the name of Suresh Katyal at the Katyals' factory in Bahadurgarh in Haryana.' Suresh Katyal is the father in law of the victim.

Both Suresh and Sanjay have been absconding. 'A hunt is on to nab the duo as soon as possible. The fake Facebook account has been deactivated,' added the official.

The victim belongs to a business family. She married in November 2010 and since May 2012 she has been staying with her family in Punjabi Bagh. The duo got married through a matrimonial web site. 'Whatever information was provided by my in-laws was all fake. It was just to trap a girl,' she claims. She also said that despite being very well off, her in-laws demanded a Corolla car and diamond jewellery from her family.
