Budgam killings: Army completes its investigation

Army has completed the inquiry into the recent killing of two youths in a firing incident involving troops at Chattergam in Budgam district.

“The inquiry has been completed and the report has been submitted,” an army official at Army’s Northern Command headquarters said.

He said the report is being examined by the legal department for further procedure as warranted under law. Asked about reports claiming that nine army personnel have been indicted for the killing of two youths on November 3, the official said “these are conjectures”.

“We will come up with a statement once the process is complete,” he added.

Faisal Yousuf and Mehraj Ahmad Dar were shot dead while two other youths were injured in firing by army troops at a motor vehicle checking point at Chattergam.

The army, while ordering an inquiry into the incident, had promised that the probe will be completed within 10 days.
