BSF holds pension adalat in Bengal

Aimed at speedy redress of grievances of pensioners and family pensioners of the pre-2006 

period, the BSF is holding a two-day “pension adalat” from Thursday. Nearly 300 retirees from eastern and north-eastern states participated in the pension adalat held at the Border Security Force camp in Madhyamgram in North 24-Parganas district. 

These retirees from states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Odisha, Sikkim, Tripura and Nagaland submitted their documents for revision of their pensions/family pensions. 

After the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission report, around 85,000 pension cases of the pre-2006 era needed to be revised. Of these, 70,000 cases have already been revised in the 11 pension adalats held so far since April 2013.

BSF Inspector General and Principal Staff Officer P. Raju, who inaugurated the proceedings, said: “All the pending issues related to pensions will be addressed expeditiously and suitable steps taken to ensure their problems are sorted out.”
