In three separate incidents, bodies of two schoolchildren and a man were recovered under mysterious circumstances at Asansol in Burdwan, Krishnagar in Nadia and at Englishbazar in Malda on Wednesday.
The body of a class V student Shibdas Bagdi was found in a well near his house at Burnpur Karimdanga in Asansol.
Police said Bagdi went missing seven days ago after he went to out to play.
His family members had initiated a search for him but they failed to find him till Tuesday night and
lodged a complaint with the police.
The police had also initiated a search and questioned many of his friends. But none of his friends and relatives had managed to provide any clue about the missing boy.
On Wednesday morning, a local resident noticed his body in the well and informed the local people. Police went to the spot and fished out the body.
It was later sent for an autopsy. Crying foul play behind the death of Bagdi, his family members and local people staged a demonstration outside Hirapur police station demanding arrest of the accused.
In another incident at Krishnagar in Nadia, the body of a class X student Rahul Karmakar was found in a water body near Shantipur Barabazar on Wednesday morning.
Police came to know that he left home on Tuesday to attend an invitation in one of their relatives’ house.
Later investigation revealed that he went missing before he had reached the relative’s house.
Police suspect that he was being kidnapped enroute to the house where he was going to attend an invitation.
Police suspect that he was kidnapped and murdered.
The body has been sent for an autopsy and police questioning some of his friends.
Police came to know from his parents that he never had quarrel with anyone and he was good in his studies.
In another incident, the body of an unidentified man was found at Englishbazar in Malda on Wednesday morning.
The body was found beside the state highway. Police suspect that the 35-year-old man was strangulated to death and dumped the body on the highway.
Police are trying to identify the body.
