Bodh Gaya serial blasts: Four detained

Four people have been detained for questioning in connection with the serial blasts in Bodh Gaya here on Tuesday, as per reports. One woman is amongst the four who have been detained. The woman is said to belong to Lucknow.

Bodh Gaya was rocked by serial blasts on 7 July in the early hours of morning. This was the first time that a Buddhist holy place was the target of terrorists. The Mahabodhi Temple which was closed after the blasts was reopened yesterday after monks from fifty countries performed a special prayer.

Meanwhile, the probe into the multiple blasts in Bodh Gaya will be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). A formal order entrusting the NIA with the investigation will be issued very soon, Home Ministry officials said.

A team of NIA had reached Bodh Gaya on Sunday evening, hours after the temple town was hit by the terror attack, and is assisting the Bihar Police in the investigation. Nitish Kumar too had asked the Centre to hand over the investigation into the Bodh Gaya blast to NIA.

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar said he had asked the Centre for providing the services of the CISF for guarding historical monuments, religious sites and other important installations.
Kumar also informed the state government is mulling the creation of an anti-terror squad.

A team of the National Security Guard (NSG), which picked up samples from the area, sent a preliminary report to the Union Home Ministry, saying the low-intensity bombs worked like improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and were triggered through analog clock timers.
