BJP leader pans govt over water pollution

BJP Delhi Pradesh president Vijender Gupta has expressed grave concern over increasing pollution in the ground water of Delhi and the Yamuna river.

He has urged the government to engage experts for cleaning of the river and devise modalities to prevent ground water pollution.

'According to a recent report by National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI),  the samples of ground water in south Delhi, south-west Delhi and central-north Delhi had toxic fluoride and nitrates. Due to this, there is a danger of digestive and bone diseases for people in these areas,' said Gupta.

Gupta also flayed the third action plan of Delhi government for cleaning of Yamuna and termed it wastage of money.

'In the previous two action plans, Rs 1,800 crore was wasted. Now the government is going to spend Rs 1,656 crore on the third action plan. But it is not certain if the water of Yamuna will become worth drinking even after this plan,' said Gupta.

He has demanded that the government should fix the responsibility of third Yamuna Action plan so that in case of any failure, the persons responsible for it may be punished because Rs 1,656 crore are going to be spent on this plan.
