BJP, Cong spar escalates over Maoists attack

New Delhi: With Congress stating that the attack on its leaders in Chhattisgarh by Naxals, is a conspiracy and  blaming the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) for the attack, the BJP has found itself on the back foot and  is trying to put forward its own conspiracy theory for the Naxal attack.

Few leaders in BJP have questioned as to why certain Congress leaders were left unhurt in the attack, thus pointing towards tribal leader Kawasi Lakma,  Congress MLA from Bastar who escaped unhurt from the attack. The BJP however, made it clear that it does not want to politicise the Naxal attack. ‘ The Congress party has the habit of politicising the death of people, the allegations that they have levelled on us are completely baseless and we do not want to stoop down to that level,’ said BJP vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi. With assembly elections due in the state later this year, the Congress is hopeful that politicising the incident could help the party.

The Congress party on Wednesday went to the extent to accuse the BJP and the Maoists of being hand in glove in Chhattisgarh.

‘The BJP and the Maoists are working together to serve each others’ purpose. The BJP has not responded to questions raised by us. They are silent because they have a vested interest,’ said Congress spokesperson Bakhta Charan Das.
