Bihar-based murderer held by Crime Branch

A Bihar-based criminal, who is allegedly involved in a murder case and several cheating cases at his native state, has been arrested by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police, police said on Thursday.

The accused, identified as Bharat Yadav, had shifted to Delhi with his family when several teams of Bihar Police were hunting for him and his associates, after they allegedly killed one <g data-gr-id="28">Bhuwar</g> Yadav in <g data-gr-id="32">February,</g> 2015 to avenge the death of Bharat Yadav’s nephew. Bihar Police had also declared a reward of Rs 15,000 on his arrest, said Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime).

In the last week of May 2015, officials at <g data-gr-id="27">South-eastern</g> range of Delhi Police received information about Bharat Yadav’s presence in Delhi. A team was formed to track him <g data-gr-id="26">down</g> but it did not succeed. 

On July 1, the Crime Branch received a tip-off about Bharat Yadav and a trap was laid near Central Delhi’s Pragati Maidan, where Bharat was to come to meet an associate, said a police official.

On being interrogated, Bharat reportedly confessed his involvement in a murder case and several cheating cases at Bihar’s Bhojpur district, said a police official.

Bharat Yadav told the police that in <g data-gr-id="23">November,</g> 2014, his nephew Hulchul Yadav was allegedly murdered by a rival gang in their village. 

To avenge his death, Bharat allegedly killed <g data-gr-id="24">Bhuwar</g> Yadav on February 27, with the help of his associates, when <g data-gr-id="25">Bhuwar</g> was heading back home from a marriage function in the village, said a police official.
