Bigg Boss: The Ignoble reality show

Ever since ‘Bigg Boss’ has hit the screens, it has enjoyed a wide viewership and made bazillion headlines for all the wrong reasons. It has always played a perfect host to helluva controversies. The ugliest side of reality shows came into the limelight in the form of ‘Bigg boss’ where foul verbiage and obscenity had reached a different level altogether. Despite several attempts to dislodge it from the small screen, it has always managed to make a comeback every possible year with the leading Bollywood stars as the host, right from Amitabh Bachchan, Shilpa Shetty to Salman Khan, who has managed to secure his seat as the host for quite some time now.

The ‘Bigg boss season 10’  has kick started with a whole new concept of putting the celebs and commoners under one roof. Where on the celeb side, some of the leads of the famous television soaps, along with beauty contest finalist and people from the fashion and <g data-gr-id="24">bhojpuri</g> film industry have made their way into the house. On the other side some raw people from the villages near the capital city , a strategist from Google, an aimless flirt and one obnoxious looking godman who like any other person from his profession claims to be a foreteller. Well to remind you, Om swami  isn’t an unknown face to all of us. On a debate conducted by a leading news channel, he had the audacity to pass some extremely sexist comments on the national television and if you think that was all, he also indulged in a verbal as well as a physical spat with his fellow speaker.

The woman and Swamiji slapped each other on the show. Om Swami also revealed on the show that he is a Tantrik(A practitioner of black magic). With contestants like this, one can tell that there is a lot of drama in the offing. But one question that haunts every time is that by inviting people with such low morals and people from an absolutely unprincipled background, to be a part of a show that is aired on the national television. Where is the future of national television heading to? In order to quench the thirst of a spice-hungry audience, the makers are leaving no stone unturned to gain the maximum viewership through all the possible means and that is the most unfortunate thing to witness in today’s time.
