Bypoll results: BJP wins Hamirpur seat, Cong leads in Dantewada

New Delhi: In Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur, BJP's Yuvraj Singh has emerged victorious in a tough race with Samajwadi Party's candidate Manoj Prajapati, with a margin of 17,000 votes.

Mani C Kappan of the LDF won in Kerala's Pala, securing a nail-biting victory over his UDF opponent Jose Tom by 2,943 votes. Meanwhile, in Tripura's Badharghat seat, the BJP emerged victorious. In Chhattisgarh, Congress candidate Devti Karma is leading with over 10,000 votes. Once Congress' win is officially announced, the party would hold all 12 seats from Bastar and 69 of 90 seats overall in the state, while the BJP will drop to 14 seats.

The bypoll in Dantewada, which recorded a turnout of 53.25 per cent, was necessitated after the death of BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi in a Naxal attack in April. Pala Assembly seat, which fell vacant after Kerala Congress (M) veteran K M Mani died in April, recorded a 71.41 per cent turnout.
