HRD Secretary Subrahmanyam shifted over JNU row

New Delhi: It seems the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry officials' "failure" in resolving the fee rollback issue of JNU University didn't go down well with the government and it resulted in the shifting of Higher Education Secretary R Subrahmanyam to a least important Social Justice Ministry. According to an order issued by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, which is chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Subrahmanyam, a 1985-batch IAS officer, and JNU alumni, will now be looking after the affairs of Department of Social Justice and Empowerment as its secretary.
