Day after 23rd birthday, call centre employee found dead in Salt Lake office
Kolkata: A day after celebrating his birthday, a 23-year-old call centre employee was found dead in his office building, police said on Thursday. His family alleged he was murdered.
The incident happened in Salt Lake Sector V's Godrej Waterside Building on Wednesday night.
The victim, identified as Abhisek Bauri (23), originally hailed from Bankura. He was currently staying at Deshbandhunagar area in Baguiati along with some of his family members. The victim's family members alleged that there was some foul play behind Abhisek's death. A specific compliant has been lodged at the Electronic Complex police station on the basis of which police have begun a probe.
The cops said that security personnel of the building found the victim lying outside the emergency fire exit on the 10th floor. After being informed, the family members of the victim rushed to the spot. The police, meanwhile, took him to a nearby private hospital where he was declared brought dead. The family members told the police that none of the office employees turned up to talk to them.
The victim's family members have alleged that Abhisek had been mentally tortured at his work place. The victim had been working with this office for the past one year. It has been alleged by his family that he returned home from office crying on August 29, the day of his birthday. He told his family that he had been subjected to tremendous torture at his work place.
Police have started a probe to ascertain the exact cause of his death and are also investigating whether the victim had been subjected to mental torture in office. The police are awaiting the post-mortem report.
A four-member forensic team visited the spot on Thursday and collected samples. CCTV footage of the office is also being examined and a detailed probe has been initiated.
