Couple murders kids in sleep, jumps to death from 8th floor

New Delhi: Residents of Indirapuram's Krishna Apra Sapphire Apartment woke up to complete shock and horror after they discovered that a business family of four had died in their society. Police said the couple, along with a woman, committed suicide by jumping from the 8th floor of the building. The two children were found dead inside the flat.

Initial investigation revealed that a financial crisis was the main reason behind this extreme step. Police identified the deceased as Gulshan Vasudev, his wife, two children and another woman who was said to be his business associate. The residents said the family had shifted to the apartment two months back.

The investigators are suspecting that the couple may have killed both the kids while they were asleep and then committed suicide. "Case is being investigated from several angles and we are waiting for the post-mortem report," an officer said.

Eijaz Karim Khan, the society's security guard, was the first to reach the spot of the incident. Khan said: "I was sitting on the chair and at around 5-5.20 am I heard a loud thud. I rushed to the spot and found that two women and a man were lying on the ground." The security guard immediately informed his supervisor and the police were called in.

The cops, after entering the couple's eighth floor flat, found two children lying dead in the bedroom. A knife was also found at the spot. During the investigation, police found an alleged suicide note scribbled on the wall of one of the bedrooms. "Here's the money for our rites. Our last wish is that all five of us should be cremated together," the suicide note read. The note further blamed a man (Vasudev's brother-in-law) for the unfortunate incident.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Ghaziabad Sudhir Kumar Singh said there was a monetary dispute of Rs 2 crore between Vasudev and his brother-in-law Rakesh Verma and this was the reason for prolonged depression in the family. Superintendent of Police (City) Maneesh Mishra said they have detained the brother-in-law for questioning. A dead rabbit was also found in a carton in the children's bedroom.

Sources added that a few people were questioned by local police to get further leads. "The probe is also on to find out if Vasudev had made any video calls to any of his friends just before the incident," sources added.
