Chargesheet against Shami for dowry & sexual harassment

Kolkata: The Kolkata Police on Thursday filed a chargesheet against Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami. The cricketer has been charged under IPC section 498A (Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and 354A (outraging the modesty of a woman).

The non-bailable charges have been levelled by Shami's estranged wife Hasin Jahan. Shami's brother – Hasib Ahmed – too has been named in the FIR.

Last Friday, the Kolkata Police had lodged an FIR against Shami and four others under various non-bailable and bailable sections after the former's wife lodged a complaint of domestic violence and infidelity against him.

Shami, in posts on his Facebook page and Twitter handle, has claimed that the allegations were false and a conspiracy to defame him.
