Buddhadeb hospitalised, CM pays visit

Kolkata: Former Chief Minister of Bengal Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee (75) was admitted to a private nursing home in South Kolkata on Friday evening after he complained of severe breathlessness and low pressure. He has been admitted to ICCU, and a medical board of five doctors has been constituted to monitor his health condition.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the hospital to inquire about his health.

"He is much better now. He is admitted in the ICCU. Doctors are saying he is stable now. We want him to recover fast," she said after visiting him.

Suryakanta Mishra, the state CPI(M) secretary, Rabin Deb and other Left Front leaders also went to see him.

Bhattacharjee, who has been suffering from illness for the past one year, fell unconscious on Friday evening and was admitted to the hospital.

It was learnt that Bhattacharjee's blood pressure level has dropped along with the oxygen level.

Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar also called on the ailing leader in the nursing home.
