Bansal’s nephew held for taking `90-lakh bribe

The CBI on Friday evening arrested V  Singla, nephew of Railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 90 lakh.

According to PTI report, Singla was booked by CBI for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 90 lakh from Railway Board member Mahesh Kumar, who has sought the help of the minister’s nephew to get elevated from Member of Staff to member of Electrical. Kumar, who had taken charge only two days ago as member of the Railway board after a stint as ‘general manager’, Western Railway, has been arrested. According to CBI sources, Mahesh Kumar has had a controversial career and CBI is closely scrutinising the role of his PS Shyam Singh, CPRO of Western Railway Sharat Chandrayan and a lady officer Iti Pandey for their alleged complicity in various corrupt practices. Mahesh Kumar has been aspiring to become the Railway board chairman and he was in close contest with another member of the board Kulbhushan Sharma.
