Bansal to be grilled in next 2 days: CBI

With former railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal resigning on Friday, the CBI officials have said that he will be questioned in the next two days.

‘We have prepared a long questionnaire for Bansal backed with evidence and he will be called for interrogation at any time now,' the cops stated, adding that, 'He might also be confronted with the accused in the case.' His two sons, nephews and other relatives' rise during his political growth has brought them under CBI's scanner.

Name of a Railway Police Force inspector general has also cropped up in note-for-post scam with his wife Shubha Swami questioned by CBI for allegedly helped tainted railway official Mahesh Kumar’s wife Anjali to hide investment documents and jewellery worth about Rs 4.5 crore before the raid.

Inspector-General RPF Mahim Swami, however, has denied his wife’s role. Also, a photograph of Railway Police Force (RPF) officer Yash Mishra on a social networking site helped the CBI get their hands on Kumar's disproportionate investment details. On May 3, the CBI arrested railway board member Kumar along with two others on corruption charges. The CBI on Friday also issued notices to at least two RPF officials to come and join the probe. 'We have served notices to several railway departments including RPF for questioning,' the sources said.

The CBI is also looking into the appointment of two other railway board members, who were also promoted recently. 'We are examining their appointments as well. For that, we will ask railway board chairman Vinay Mittal to join our probe and explain certain issues pertaining to the appointments,' the source added. All key appointments in the railway ministry are done on the recommendation of the railway board chairman.
