Bankura University hosts International seminar on Shakespeare

A two-day international conference on cultural gerontology reflected in Shakespeare's works began on Monday at the University of Bankura to commemorate the 400th death anniversary of the Bard.

Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi, who inaugurated the seminar, called upon the youth to learn to respect the elderly by imbibing Shakespeare's writing and urged them to learn to develop discipline.

The seminar entitled, "Ripeness ia All: Discoursing Shakespeare and the Politics of Cultural Gerontology", was organised by the University of Bankura in collaboration with ICSSR, New Delhi and British Council, Kolkata.

It was attended by among others Minister of State for Panchayat Shyamal Santra, Vice Chancellor of Bankura University, Prof. Debnarayan Bandopadhyay, Professor Shova Bajpai of Lucknow University.
