Attempts of dacoity foiled in Picnic Garden

Two unidentified miscreants injured four persons including an elderly woman after their attempt to decamp with valuables from a residential apartment at Picnic Garden was foiled.The miscreants, however, managed to flee. On Saturday afternoon, two persons went to the flat of Santosh Sarkar, a retired deputy commissioner of the Income Tax department, posing as carpenters. Sarkar’s wife opened the door of their flat after which they forcefully entered the flat and started beating up the woman. They also beat up Sarkar’s son when he intervened. The neighbours caught the duo but they stabbed two of them and escaped.
