Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) workers on Friday launched an indefinite strike and staged a protest outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence. They demanded regularisation of their services and fixation of minimum wages.
“The government has been insensitive to our demands. We do not fall in the payroll of the <g data-gr-id="19">government</g> unlike Anganwadi workers, though we play a vital role by serving the rural population and ours is a 24-hour job,” said Kavita, a member of the Delhi ASHA Workers’ Association.
The workers have threatened that they would not resume their duties till their demands are met. “We will not get back to work until our demands are met. We have been ignored by the government for decades,” said another ASHA worker.
