Another tea garden worker dies in Dooars

A 55-year-old tea garden worker died Sania Praja on Friday morning after she failed to arrange money for proper treatment.

She was a worker of a garden at Dharanipur in Dooars and the garden was closed for the past three years. Her family members alleged that she had no money to buy food and for proper treatment. She fell ill as she was suffering from malnutrition. 

On Friday morning, when taken to a local hospital, the doctors told her family members that she died following a cardiac arrest. Four workers of different closed tea gardens died this month.  

The state government had in November announced a package of Rs 100 crore for all tea gardens in North Bengal to cover facilities such as the provision of electricity, water, schools and medical treatment.
