NEW DELHI: The Signature Bridge would be thrown opened for public use by October 31 and will become one of the most important tourist destinations in the coutnry, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Saturday.

In a series of tweets on his official Twitter handel, The Deputy CM wrote, "Signature bridge would be opened for public use by 31st October. It's going to be one of the most important tourist destination in India."

"A glass box at 154 mt hight would be the top most viewpoint from where we can have a look on our city," he added.

He further tweeted that the final work would be finished in the next two months.

"Signature bridge work is almost complete. The final shape is given to the top pylon. All 15 cables are installed, need final stressing now. All this would be done in 2 months. I'm personally monitoring the work and visiting the site almost every week," his tweet read.

On Friday, the Delhi High Court had been assured by the Public Works Department (PWD) that construction of the Bridge would be completed by October, after which trials would be conducted.

"List the matter in the second week of November to enable the respondents (authorities) to complete the project and do the trial and file a report," a bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice VK Rao had observed.

The court was informed by the counsel for the PWD that the project will be completed by October and trial run will be conducted thereafter.

The court had earlier frowned upon the Aam Aadmi Party-led elected government and its departments "quibbling over" the amount to be paid for the construction of the "long overdue" Signature Bridge.

The bridge will connect Delhi with Uttar Pradesh's industrial areas such as the Tronica city in Ghaziabad.
