Amit Mitra admitted to Bellevue

State Finance Minister Amit Mitra was admitted to Bellevue Clinic on Tuesday after he complained of frequent coughing. 

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Nabanna said that she had asked the Finance minister to undergo checkups at the hospital. 

“I have told Mitra to get himself admitted to the hospital as he was suffering from cough. I hope that he will be released from the hospitals within one or two days after the checkup and clinical tests,” she said. 

Hospital authorities said Mitra has been admitted to the hospital for routine checkup. A senior official at the hospital said that he had been admitted under Dr Naresh Goyel, a general physician. He might be released from the hospital after various clinical tests were done on him. The doctors will decide on his release after getting the reports of the clinical tests. 

According to a senior hospital official, various clinical examinations will be done to check the condition of the patient’s heart, lungs and other organs. Blood tests will be done. 

“It may take 2-3 three days to perform all the tests on Mitra to look into his health condition. It was nothing but a routine check up,” a senior official at the hospital said.
