AIIMS to start helpline, form squads to check ragging

The All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will start a new anti-ragging helpline for students. Students can dial 9868397028 to report harassment incidents in the medical college.

Also, four teams – each with four members – will be formed to keep an eye on the hostel premises during the night.

“The decision to set up the 24x7 helpline was taken keeping in mind the cases of ragging happening in the college as well as hostel campuses. The helpline will keep the administration updated about the cases happening and help us take action against the guilty students,” said MC Misra, AIIMS director.

The decisions were taken during the review meeting held before the start of the new MBBS and MD/MS sessions.

Misra said the Delhi Police have been urged to keep two PCR vans posted in the hostel premises, for boys’ as well as girls’ hostels. “Through all such arrangements we want to convey the message that there won’t be any tolerance against ragging...,” he said.
