Aabesh death: Cops yet to find discrepancies in friends’ statements

The police have apparently found no discrepancies in the statement of Aabesh Dasgupta’s friends after questioning them for a repeated number of times in the past ten days.

It comes at the time when the victim’s mother Rimjhim Dasgupta and other family members had met the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claiming that Aabesh was murdered. They went to meet the Chief Minister after the joint Commissioner of police (crime) Vishal Garg had claimed that “video footages, statements given by the eye witnesses and other circumstantial evidences suggested that it was not a pre-planned murder”.

Police officers of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that was formed to probe into the incident had questioned several people after the victim’s family members moved to the Chief Minister. According to a source in the city police’s detective department, on Tuesday, too, police interrogated 10 friends of the victim.

But they have not found anything suspicious in their statements. Though the investigation would take some more time, but it doesn’t seem that involvement of friends behind Aabesh’s death could be established, said an officer of the detective department.  It is learnt that the police would question two security personnel of the apartment once again.

But they are yet to be summoned. The forensic experts once again visited Sunny Park Apartment where the incident had taken place. It is learnt that the purpose of the visit is to inspect the spot once more before preparing the final report.

Some people including the principal of Aabesh’s school went to his residence and lit a candle in front of his photograph.
