A bridge for peace and love

Ibadat-e-Ishq (Worship of Love) is a music album that strives as  a peace bridge of music project by Sandeep Silas 'deep' (India) and Ustad Shafqat Ali Khan (Pakistan). The album has also been produced by Silas.

Sandeep Silas a career civil servant in the Indian government, poet and strategist has been working on his original idea of Garland of Peace since January 2004, which he has developed to bring a paradigm shift in the world from ‘war’ towards ‘peace’. He has brought it on his own steam into the public domain with the help of like-minded people, Universities and organisations. The opportunities within his idea are: peace education; peace tourism; peace symbolism; peace activism; and strengthening of the peace building process in the world.

The whole idea of going into the public domain was to involve and invoke the vox populi, which only has the power to change. His personal belief is: ‘Keep doing the things you want to do, the world will come along when it will’. He remembers those days when for years he cycled to and fro school and decided to make a difference, or at least try to. The memory of the Indo-Pak war of 1971 are still fresh in his mind when he used to see fighter planes taking off from Agra air force base, which was very near his house. In fact one ack-ack shell lobbed at 'enemy' aircraft missed its target and landed in his restroom. People living in their nations carry their prejudices long after the country's have been at war. To change this feeling within the sub-continent, he chose the path of peace bridging by music.

He has produced a music album of lyrics written by him in his collection Saada Khayal (Simple Thought); and, composed and sung by renowned Pakistani Sufi singer Ustad Shafqat Ali Khan of Sham Chaurasi Gharana. The whole idea was to have two artists: one Indian, one Pakistani, come together on one platform and present to the people a music album, done in collaboration at the soul interaction level. The album has been brought out recently by a leading music house of India.
