Eminent trained doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences are a part of a team sent to Uttarakhand for relief work by Guru ji, Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji of Dera Sacha Sauda, Sirsa. He also flagged off on Tuesday morning 33 canters loaded with relief material as the second consignment to the flood devastated hills of Uttarakhand.

As many as 15 doctors, including specialists from AIIMS, left for Uttarakhand along with a state-of-the-art mobile hospital of the Dera and 15 vehicles to transport the ill and the sick. Speaking to the media persons after flagging off the co nsignment, Guru Gurmeet Ram Raheem Singh said that instead of leaving the relief material for the administrative machinery of the area, volunteers would go door to door to distribute the needful to the local people.

‘Packets have been prepared for households and each contains flour, rice, sugar, tea, salt, turmeric, cooking oil, utensils, cooker etc. Each packet weighs about 12 kg and would make one family self sufficient for a while,’ he said.

Guptkashi has been made as the centre of the relief camp from where seven more centres would be catered to. ‘The relief material has been sent loaded on canters but would be taken to areas of tough terrain in smaller jeeps. Where there are no roads and people are stuck, volunteers would take one packet each and seek out those in need of the material in the villages cut off from rest of the world,’ he said.

A team of 200 volunteers is accompanying the relief material which also includes engineers, paramedical staff and divers who would be useful in the rescue mission. The divers have also been provided life Jacket so that they could transport the relief material even if the water is deep at certain places so that it reaches the needy.
