35 ‘suspected’ Indians found in shipping container in England

Thirty-five people including children from the Indian subcontinent were found cramped inside a shipping container in the Tilbury Docks in England’s Essex. There were intended to be smuggled into UK from Belgium.

One of the adult men in the group died of hypothermia soon after being taken out from the container.The survivors, believed to be from India, were suffering from severe dehydration and hypothermia and are being treated at nearby hospitals.

Essex police officers have launched a massive investigation into the shocking incident following the discovery of a container of people at the docks.

The container, on a ship from Zeebrugge, was being unloaded on Saturday morning. The police received a call at 7.35am from the port after 35 people ‘including adults and children of both genders, were found inside’. It is not known where the container, one of 64 aboard the vessel, originated.

The police said, ‘One man has died and the others have significant health problems. They  are being taken to local hospitals.
