2G scam: CBI seeks cancellation of bail to Shahid Balwa

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in its reply to court said that Shahid Balwa, an accused in the 2G spectrum case and promoter of Swan Telecom, has deliberately attempted to cause serious damage in the ongoing trial.  Balwa’s objective was to put entire exercise in ‘jeopardy’, the central probing agency said, while urging the court to cancel bail of the accused. The CBI has filed its reply in the matter in which the accused, was pulled up by a Delhi court for his misconduct, while responding to the question of court. Later Balwa requested to deposed his statements again, on which court had asked CBI to file their reply.

Earlier, Balwa during recording of his statement had said that he does not understand some questions, which was given to him by special CBI Judge OP Saini. Court had asked that if he does not understand the question then why he has responded. The accused also faced the court’s ire with judge saying he deserved to be taken into custody for his misconduct. Balwa in reply had said that it was a bona fide mistake and the same was neither intentional nor deliberate but only due to an inadvertent error of recording the answers on the court’s computer.
