20-year-old held for Bhalswa Dairy rape and murder
A 20-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping and murdering a woman. The arrested has been identified as Abhimanu, a resident of Bhalswa Dairy area, police said.
The police said Abhimanyu, along with his juvenile accomplice – who was apprehended earlier – had sexually assaulted the woman’s corpse too before dumping her body in a jungle in North-west Delhi’s Bhalswa Dairy area.
The police said the incident took place in on November 28 when the 25-year-old victim was alone in her house.
Abhimanyu told the police that he along with the juvenile had consumed alcohol in the area and barged into the victim’s house around 1.30 am. He said that the juvenile had told him that the woman, who lived in their neighborhood, was alone in the house.
“The woman was sleeping when the Abhimanyu and the juvenile barged into the victim’s house. They made her smell some sedative, after which she fell unconscious. The duo, then, raped her in her house. The victim resisted the duo when she gained consciousness, after which Abhimanyu throttled her, causing her death,” Abhimanyu told the police.
The accused allegedly loaded the victim’s body in their Mahindra Maximo and dumped it in the forest in Bhalswa Dairy. The police said the duo allegedly sexually assaulted her corpse before fleeing.
The woman’s family, who had lodged a missing complaint, found her body in a semi-nude state in the forest after a day-long search. The police have also recovered the mini-truck used in the crime and the victim’s cellphone.
