14-year-old girl dies in wall collapse

In a tragic incident, a 14-year-old girl died after new constructed wall fell on her when she was going to school at Bhangar in South 24-Parganas on Wednesday. 

Police said that the incident occurred on Wednesday morning when the victim, Mashura Khatun, who was a resident of Malmukundi village and a student of class VIII, was on her way to Madhabpur Higher Secondary School. 

The incident had triggered tension in the locality as the residents put up demonstration demanding to stop the construction work. The agitation was lifted following the intervention of police personnel from Bhangar. 

Hearing a loud thud, local people rushed to the spot and pulled out the girl from the debris. Khatun died on her way to hospital. The police sent her body for post-mortem.
