13 cr voters apply to link Aadhar numbers with electoral rolls: EC

The Election Commission on Sunday said 13 crore voters have applied to link their Aadhar numbers with their entries in electoral rolls under National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme so far. Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi said 10 crore requests have been received through various means while three crore people have applied online. The Commission launched the programme in March this year with the prime objective of bringing a totally error free and authenticated electoral roll. The programme focuses on improving image quality of electors along with sorting issues like corrections of errors.
