10 crushed to death in Mathura mishap

At least 10 people were crushed to death and six others were injured when a bus crushed a tempo coming from opposite direction near Vatsalya Gram area on Mathura-Vrindavan road here on Tuesday, police said.
Superintendent of police (City) Ashok Kumar Shukla confirmed that all the deceased were travelling in tempo. The accident took place when the bus of a private university was trying to overtake another vehicle and it dashed against a tempo coming from opposite direction, he said. Â
‘The impact was so bad that the tempo was reduced to steel rubble,’ the SP said.
The tempo which has a carrying capacity of five was ferrying 16 persons at the time of accident. Ten occupants of the tempo died on the spot.
Of the injured condition of four persons is stated to be critical. All have been admitted to the state-run hospital in Mathura, Shukla said. Police was trying to identify the deceased. The driver of the university bus has been arrested. Eyewitness say that he was driving the bus at a high speed.
